If, like me, you’re running Vista full time you may be struggling to install one of the most used applications, Adobe’s Acrobat Reader. It’s pretty easy to fix – if you are struggling, here’s how I did it.

The first thing you need to do is run the installer. Now, keep going until you reach the screen that gives you an error message (on mine it was ‘The disk that contains the temporary files is full or inaccessible’ but I’m aware it can give other messages too). Now, don’t click OK. Instead, open up Windows Explorer and navigate to ‘C:\Users\{your username here}\AppData\LocalLow\netopsystems’. Now, you’ll see a folder in here called ‘Adobe Acrobat 8.0′ – I copied this to my Desktop folder but you can put it wherever you want.

Next, OK the dialog box from your previous install – this deletes the temporary files you’ve just copied. You can now go into your copied folder and double-click on the ‘AcroRead.msi’ file (not ‘Setup.exe!’) and Acrobat Reader will happily install. Once the install is complete you can delete your setup folder.
